Art of AI delights us every day with captivating TTRPG art, humorous product mock ups, and whimsical twists on cultural icons. We asked him about his creative process and influences.
Q: How did you become interested in generative AI?
A: My journey into generative AI began thanks to Kevin Pereira, who first introduced the concept to many viewers on G4tv, planting the seeds of my creative passion.
Q: What are your favorite tools and techniques for creating art? Have they changed over time?
A: I started with Midjourney, exploring its capabilities for over a year. However, I've developed a profound connection with the combination of GPT and Dall-e. The innovation in custom GPT training has been transformative, enriching my approach to art creation and allowing for more nuanced expression. I just wish Dall-e/GPT had inpainting and was a tad less restrictive.
Q: What inspired you to start creating humorous products? How do you come up with your ideas?
A: The inspiration for my humorous products was nurtured by OmegaMart in Las Vegas. This unique, interactive art installation, masquerading as a grocery store, along with the inventive food creations featured on the YouTube channel Good Mythical Morning, inspired me to experiment with quirky and offbeat product concepts.
Q: Of all the products you’ve made so far, what is your favorite and why?
A: Choosing a favorite creation is challenging, but the McDonald's scented fragrance holds a special place in my portfolio. Many of us, at some point, have experienced that lingering scent of fries and burgers. And yet even writing this now makes me want a McDouble…
Q: What TTRPGs or other sources of inspiration have influenced your art the most?
A: I've been captivated by the art of world-building since receiving my first 3.5 Dungeon Master's Guide as a kid. 'Dinotopia' and similar works further fueled this passion, drawing me into fantasy map-making and the creation of vast, immersive worlds. These early influences have been instrumental in shaping my artistic direction, alongside a respect for the immense work and time involved.
Q: Do you have any upcoming projects you’re excited for and can tell us a little about?
A: I'm currently channeling my passion for TTRPGs into creating a free resource of races and creatures, complete with stat blocks and only my best images. Additionally, I'm excited about developing custom GPTs for producing high-quality images and artwork for TTRPGs and product images.
Q: What are you most looking forward to in the field of generative AI?
A: The advancement I'm most excited about in AI is the transformation of 2D images into 3D models. This leap forward will open a new frontier for AI artists, enabling us to bring our visions into the physical world through 3D printing and other mediums. I recently learned about this on one of the latest AIForHumansShow episodes.
Q: How might people support your work?
A: The best way to support my work is by following me on social platforms like Twitter or Blue Sky. It helps me connect with a broader audience and allows AI enthusiasts to stay updated on my latest projects, new GPTs, and more. I often share prompts, and YouTube AI videos with tips and tricks and info for everyone from AI hobbyists to AI wizards.
